Outage minutes per customer (SAIDI)
Foothills Power Co-op
Scored from your answers. Not a comparison with other companies.
Your answers show several gaps that an AI tool would inherit from this number.
An AI tool asked about outage minutes per customer, your System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), would get a different answer depending on whether it reads the outage system or the customer system. It would report either one with the same confidence. Because this number goes to a regulator, which one it picks matters.
The regulator report is your only reconciliation step.
Your reliability engineer owns the number and the definition is written down, but not every one of the four to six systems applies it. The outage system and the customer system are only compared when the quarterly regulator report is assembled, so that report is doing double duty as the check. The four to ten days before people trust the number is the reconciling happening at the last possible moment.
Take last quarter's largest outage and pull customers affected and duration from both the outage system and the customer system.
Write down, for each of the four to six systems, when it treats an outage as starting and ending.
List the manual steps between the systems and the regulator report, and who does each one.
When the outage system and the customer system disagree, which one goes in the regulator report, and why?
What would it take to compare the two systems monthly instead of quarterly?
Which events do we exclude, and is that rule the same in every system?
