Upwards of 30 reports could be required on any given day, creating a need for scalable report generation.
Spotfire’s standard export functionality truncated table visualizations that extended beyond a single page.
Chart visualizations did not always render clearly or make efficient use of available page space when exported using default methods.
Proven Solution
Cadeon implemented a Spotfire Automation Services workflow designed to generate PDF reports automatically and at scale. By combining Automation Services with the Spotfire Print by Cadeon extension, the solution ensured reports were generated only when updated data was available, while maintaining consistent formatting and visual clarity.

Automated PDF Report Generation
Automation Services was used to create an “Export to PDF” job capable of generating reports automatically, removing the need for manual export processes.

External Script Triggering
The Automation Services job was called from an external script, enabling flexible execution and allowing reports to be generated dynamically based on data availability.

Conditional Report Creation
The solution allowed for the export of any number of reports, depending on whether updated data was found for a given end-client, preventing unnecessary report generation.

Improved Layout and Readability
To address truncation and layout issues, the Spotfire Print by Cadeon extension was incorporated into the workflow, ensuring tables and charts rendered clearly and made efficient use of page space.

Custom Export Configuration
The “Custom Export to PDF” functionality within the Cadeon Print Module enabled precise control over formatting, resulting in clean, consistent, and presentation-ready reports.

Really helpful. We have used Cadeon for Spotfire installs and updates which are particularly difficult. Even after decades of supporting this software we've run into issues. Recently after moving the spotfire database, for example, there was a small but significant change that held the process up. I was able to reach out (unplanned) and get it solved that afternoon with their help. This was huge. Business critical functions back online in no time.
